Varna is next up on the jazz schedule, hosting its International Summer Jazz Festival from July 27 to July 29.
Founded in 1992, it welcomes world-famous musicians from Bulgaria and abroad. Its 26th year includes mixed international projects and a stage for young Bulgarian jazz musicians. The venue is well known – the yard of the Archaeological Museum.
We can tempt you with what to expect this year by reminding you who has been to the festival so far – Albert Mangelsdorff, Dominique Pifarély, Mel Waldron, Louis Sclavis, Karin Krog, John Sherman and many others. Most Bulgarian jazz performers have played the festival – Beli, Zeleni, Cherveni; Akustichna Versiya, Borissov Big Band, Lyudmil Georgiev, Simeon Shterev, Teodosii Spassov, Stoyan Yankulov, among others.
