Dear Friends,

Rule of law and transparent and accountable public institutions are essential contributors to the development of a healthy private sector and the growth of foreign direct investment.

For Bulgaria’s citizens and businesses to thrive, the court system and law enforcement authorities must fairly and consistently apply the laws, and government use of taxpayer money must be transparent and accountable.

Journalists and civil society groups are indispensable in this effort as they keep a check on the work of public institutions and advocate for quality public services and greater integrity in government.

Today, December 9, International Anti-Corruption Day, we salute those working to counter corruption and increase transparency and accountability in public life, thereby improving life for all in Bulgaria.
