Nurturing democracy through education

One of the many things that wouldn’t have been possible without democracy is the existence of an American institution of higher learning in Bulgaria. Since its establishment in 1991, the American University in Bulgaria (AUBG) has supported the region’s democratic transition by educating some of its brightest young minds. At AUBG’s 30th commencement ceremony, ABF President Nancy Schiller was bequeathed a doctor honoris causa degree and delivered the keynote address.

It’s worth spending a few minutes reading Ms. Schiller’s words in full.
