In-Country Training on Grain Markets and Risk Management

The expected outcome of this program is to prepare and deliver a high level two-day training seminar and workshop on grain markets and risk management for grain sector stakeholders - private industry, farmers, market analysts, traders, that will be designed by the Foreign Agricultural Service -Washington office, in coordination with FAS-Sofia, Bulgarian Cochran Fellows, and other local resources. The first day of the seminar will include presentations and discussions about more general topics on grain markets, and its outreach will be significantly bigger. On the second day, the workshop will include break-out sessions in groups of up to 15 participants, and up to 50 in total, to provide more in-depth knowledge and practical sessions on more sophisticated topics. They will aim to be highly interactive, providing hands-on practical knowledge for daily operations on the market and using real time market situation, and will serve to facilitate participatory involvement on the topics of market introduction and actions, futures markets, and overall risk management. The U.S. technical experts that will be invited will be selected by USDA/FAS team and the expected number of Bulgarian direct beneficiaries is 150.
