The struggle between deception and truth is as old as human societies themselves. Visitors can find out for themselves by visiting the captivating Fake (f)or Real exhibit at the National Ethnographic Museum in Sofia. Running from July 16 to October 20, 2024, this exhibit, originally designed by the House of European History of the EU Parliament, explores the complex interplay between disinformation, deception, and the quest for truth.
Discover over 100 artifacts and stories from across Europe and Bulgaria, including the tale of the infamous Trojan Horse, a symbol of ancient deception that resonates with today’s digital age challenges. The exhibit delves into how our emotions and beliefs shape our perception of reality and highlights historical instances of falsification.
Located in the former King’s Palace in Sofia, this exhibition not only showcases artifacts from across Europe but also features Bulgarian items subject to falsification. With all texts proved in Bulgarian and English and supplemented by local experts, visitors will gain insights into the age-old battle between truth and falsehood.
Don’t miss this chance to explore the fascinating history of disinformation and learn how to navigate the thin line between reality and illusion.
This traveling exhibition was brought to Bulgaria with support from the America for Bulgaria Foundation.
