Following in Newton’s Footsteps… in Gabrovo

Did you know that Isaac Newton made his most famous discovery by chance—watching an apple fall down from a tree in his backyard? That sometimes great innovations find you, and not the other way around, and that a stovepipe is modeled on an elephant’s trunk are among the myriad interesting facts and curiosities that Muzeiko’s traveling exhibition The Inventions will introduce to young explorers in Gabrovo this spring. Support from ABF and the local community will make this possible. The interactive exhibit will be hosted at the city’s main cultural and exhibition venue—the renowned House of Humor and Satire.

The Gabrovo community also received a gift of 150,000 Bulgarian levs to help achieve the vision it developed at the ABF-organized Conference of the Future in February 2018. ABF President Nancy Schiller handed a check to Tihomir Galov, the director of Gabrovo’s community giving fund, on March 22 in Gabrovo, where she met with members of public and private institutions.

“Chance plays only a small role in a city’s development: the community’s vision and willingness to work hard are key in bringing about progress,” said President Schiller. “Gabrovo’s community has proven it has both, which is why we stand behind them.”
