Launched in 2011 by a handful of devoted Louis Armstrong fans in Sofia with the support of ABF, A to JazZ quickly became one of the year’s most anticipated music events and the country’s largest festival dedicated to jazz music. More than 180,000 people have attended the festival in the past nine years. Music lovers are not the only ones who benefit from the festival; local business does, too. Each lev invested in the festival produced a net benefit of BGN 1.56 for the local economy, a 2019 Alpha Research study shows. The tenth, anniversary edition of A to Jazz is postponed for 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
