The project addresses a major issue of the internal audit in Bulgaria – lack of enough certified internal audit quality evaluators. IIABG helps resolving the problem by providing trainings, organizing international conference to publicize the good practices in internal audit quality evaluation, and finally certifying 40-50 internal auditors as internal audit quality evaluators for the public sector. Another major objective of the project is to harmonize the Bulgarian methodology with the internationally recognized one for external evaluations of the quality of internal audit of The Institute of Internal Auditors (The IIA). In order to guarantee the sustainability of the initiative, IIABG trains 30 Bulgarian trainers who will continue to work for developing the competencies of internal audit quality evaluators.
