The winners of the “The Little Heroes” architectural competition of “City Academy” officially received their awards at a ceremony displaying an exhibition of their designs at the Sofia Event Center.
The competition is part of the initiative of America for Bulgaria Foundation for the interior transformation of children’s clinics in Pirogov Emergency Hospital. It aims not only to encourage talented young designers, architects and artists, but also to enable other hospitals and medical institutions to become inspired by the idea of transforming their inpatient settings. A welcoming hospital environment is a proven factor to improve the mental health of children and facilitate a faster recovery.
Minister of Regional Development Nikolay Nankov awarded first prize to Kiril Kirilov (NBU) and Snezhinka Radulova (Kingston University London) for their project in the category “Heroes of the Seven Seas”. Other categories were awarded by Denitsa Nikolova, Deputy Minister of Regional Development; Yoanna Hristova, Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality of Ecology; Nancy Schiller, President of the America for Bulgaria Foundation; Prof. Dr. Asen Baltov, Executive Director of Hospital “Pirogov”; Joana Tsoneva, Marketing Manager of IKEA; Levon Hampartzoumian, CEO of UniCredit Bulbank and other partners of the initiative.
