In April 2017, nine Bulgarian fundraising experts from various NGOs took part in one-week training in Denver, Colorado, USA. One of the best practices that the Bulgarian fundraisers got acquainted with was the Colorado Gives Day.
As its name suggests, Colorado Gives Day encourages local communities to donate money once a year to one or several NGOs dealing with important social issues. During its latest edition in 2016, Colorado Gives Day generated about USD 45 million in one day alone.
Impressed by this successful American practice, Bulgarian fundraising experts decided to develop a similar initiative on local soil. They set up Bulgaria Gives to support worthy causes of local NGOs. Representatives of fourteen Bulgarian NGOs are on the initiative committee and in early 2018 will officially announce the start of the Bulgaria Gives campaign.
