To Give When You’ve Lost Your Dearest One

Fund Georgi Mihaylov Madjarov was established at the end of 1925 with a donation of 35,000 leva by academician Michael Madjarov in memory of his tragically murdered son, Georgi Madjarov. The will of the donor was for the fund to bring interest income, which each year will provide for an award of 3,000 leva to a graduate with high academic results from the First Sofia Male High School.

Perhaps, you recognize the idea for an endowment, right! This idea was developed with dignity and modesty for more than two decades until 1948, when the fund was “infused” into the state budget …

We believe that noble gestures like Mr. Madjarov’s are in the power of many today who want to set an example and leave a legacy!

Georgi Madjarov was the nephew of Georgi Benkovski and the father of the writer Anna Kamenova, who translated into Bulgarian “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” and “The Wizard of Oz”. You can find more information about Fund Georgi Mihaylov Madjarov HERE.
