A tenth-grade student won the grand prize of 2,000 euros and a scholarship for study at the prestigious HRC Culinary Academy in Sofia at a contest in Vratsa organized by the Academy with support from the America for Bulgaria Foundation. Ivaylo Atanasov, a junior at Vratsa’s professional tourism school, was among 30 culinary enthusiasts who participated in the event.
Valentina Penchovska, Anita Baeva-Stanchoeva, and Svetomir Tomchev also distinguished themselves with their culinary skills and won free courses at the Academy. The winning recipes included a traditional Bulgarian dish “Toralaska bohcha,” a chocolate mousse cake, sweet sesame bread, and crispy chicken legs with peas.
This is the third time, after two successful competitions in Razgrad and Gabrovo, that the Academy goes on the road in search of top culinary talent. The contests allow participants to gain confidence and skills and learn a craft from top professionals that they can then practice in their hometowns.
