Leading Pediatricians from the US Visit Bulgaria

Between October 4 and 10, 2025, leading pediatricians from Weill Cornell Medicine in New York—one of the world’s top university hospitals—are visiting Bulgaria at the invitation of the America for Bulgaria Foundation, with the support of the Za Primer (Lead by Example) Foundation of Bulgarian technology company SiteGround.

The visit offers Bulgarian doctors direct access to Weill Cornell’s expertise and a chance to learn about cutting-edge practices in pediatric care and medical education.

Knowledge exchange and meetings in Bulgaria

The program of the American specialists includes visits to pediatric hospitals in Sofia, Plovdiv, and Burgas, as well as meetings with the Minister of Health and members of the Healthcare Committee of the National Assembly.

Throughout the week, the visiting team will hold a series of expert seminars on topics such as improving the quality of pediatric healthcare; patient safety; pediatric palliative care; hospital-based child life programs; and the role of family advisory councils in the American healthcare system.

These sessions will give Bulgarian and American doctors an opportunity to exchange experience and discuss practical approaches to improving children’s health outcomes.

A project supporting the exchange of pediatric expertise

The visit of the American pediatricians to Bulgaria is part of a project by the America for Bulgaria Foundation, implemented with the support of the Za Primer Foundation of SiteGround. Earlier this year, 11 Bulgarian pediatricians visited Weill Cornell Medicine to observe firsthand how one of the world’s leading medical institutions organizes pediatric care and training. The current visit marks the second phase of this knowledge exchange, fostering collaboration and the sharing of best practices between professionals in the two countries.
