Magdalena Racheva thinks children today get too much screen time and don’t talk to each other enough. Her dream is to start a summer camp for children—she calls it the Memory Factory—where they would practice cooperation and build friendships by engaging in outdoor activities together. As a participant in the Business Achievements for Social Entrepreneurship (BASE) program, Magdalena was able to turn her idea into an award-winning business plan.
Already a small business owner, Magdalena knows about creating memorable experiences. She has catered for events featuring hundreds of guests. With a team of 10 she threw a party for 1,500 miners and their families. She and the only other permanent employee at her restaurant manage regular orders from social institutions and the municipality in Chelopech and can whip up a scrumptious feast for a small group at short notice.
