What little girl has not dreamed of being a ballerina, even for a bit? Prima Dilyana Nikiforova makes dreams come true through the Summer Ballet Academy in 2011 in the beautiful Balkan village of Marian, 8 km from the town of Elena. Over two weeks, the children organize a ballet show which they perform at the closing concert of the Academy.
Classes start early, rehearsals are long, but they all have fun and really enjoy it. Dilyana Nikiforova says that children are imperceptibly turned into educated, disciplined artists. Not surprisingly, over the years, a large number of participants in the summer activities continue their careers in elite ballet schools and academies worldwide. This cannot be done without the right mentors, of course. This year they were Dr. Dilyana Nikiforova, Prima of the Sofia Opera and Ballet; Darina Bedeva, Prima of Sofia Opera and Ballet; Kapka Rugleva, Prima of Burgas Opera; Trifon Mitev, soloist at Sofia Opera and Ballet; Radul Roglev, soloist at Sofia Opera and Ballet and Danita Emma, a US lecturer visiting Bulgaria as part of the “Fulbright Specialist” program.
