A record number of children and teens – 1,311 – signed up for the free seventh edition of Teach for Bulgaria’s Summer Academy of Success and Entertainment. Running in two metropolitan schools for a month – 90 Gen. Jose de San Martin in Lyulin District and 144 Narodni Buditeli in Mladost — the aim of the Academy is to make children more motivated to learn, improve their knowledge in some of the subjects studied at school and keep them from falling behind during their long vacation. Kids and teenagers can have meaningful and exciting experiences, meet new people and develop key skills and habits.
“For many students, the free Academy is one of the few opportunities to use their time during the summer break wisely. Some parents can’t afford to pay for summer camp, a tutor or other alternatives. This turns the Academy into an event of great social importance,” says Ivan Petrov, education expert at Teach for Bulgaria.
The Academy is entirely free of charge for students. It is supported by America for Bulgaria Foundation and its partners.
