Kalina Goranova of Capital Weekly newspaper is the Bulgarian journalist chosen for a scholarship for the prestigious journalistic program of the World Press Institute. Kalina, who specializes in transport and technology topics, will attend nine weeks of training in the U.S. with colleagues from Afghanistan, Brazil, China, the UK, Finland, Germany, Kenya, Poland and Russia.
Journalists will study the principles of free press and media innovations while getting acquainted with the social and cultural diversity of the United States and how the country’s political system works. The main topics in this year’s training are nuclear safety, the new US presidential administration, and journalism in the era of fake news. They will visit the editorial offices of some of the world’s largest media, as well as gain experience from some of today’s most experienced journalists and editors.
Kalina Goranova is the sixth Bulgarian journalist to be selected for World Press Institute training, made possible thanks to the financial support of America for Bulgaria Foundation.
