Space Challenges is a multidisciplinary educational program aimed at developing a generation of young entrepreneurial scientists and technology professionals. The program constitutes an intensive 9-week practical boot-camp with a mix of lectures, workshops, and practical assignments, designed for a group of 60 high-school and university students. The series of lectures and workshops in the program are led by experts from leading scientific and academic institutions such as NASA, the European Space Agency, MIT, Harvard, and a number of others. Lectures cover a wide range of topics, including physics, material science, robotics, aerospace engineering, technology architecture, and nanotechnology. All lectures are video-taped and made available on the Space Challenges online platform. Importantly, the program engages participants in creating prototypes of various innovative technologies, under the mentorship of renowned experts. The program’s strong emphasis on practical team-work projects is designed to resemble the collaborative work environment, which in many ways defines a successful technological star-up venture or company. The lecturers, who volunteer their time to travel to Bulgaria or lecture via teleconference, also serve as mentors to the participants in their project work. The program can be followed online thanks to its highly interactive platform (http://www.spaceedu.net).
We are performing technical maintenance on our website and the project database will not be accessible until 4 pm today.
