This grant is to support the 5th edition of Stara Zagora Jazz Forum. Taking place at the old Roman ruins downtown Stara Zagora, every year the forum attracts around 3,000 people. ABF started supporting Stara Zagora Jazz Forum in 2014 as part of our micro grant testing program in order to present jazz to a broader audience in Bulgaria and to encourage local art organizations to develop their own projects. Every year ABF’s support is used for the American musicians who also lead master classes at the National Music Academy for students and professionals. So far Jazztet Foundation has invited Jerry Bergonzi and George Garzone - saxophonists, composers and educators. This year the American program include Kurt Rosenwinkel Trio, and Harvey Thompson who will play with the Stara Zagora Big Band.
