The objective of this project is to support the Danube Fruit-Growers Union (DFGU) increase its capacity and provide more economic value to its 300 members, by directly helping them make their businesses more profitable. The Union will hire two motivated agronomists for a period of three years, train them in modern knowledge and up-to–date worldwide recognized practices in fruit-growing, and then disseminate their knowledge to the approximately 300+ members through a series of local trainings throughout the project span. By improving their practices, the DFGU members would be able to reach the final level of the supply chain and significantly optimize their production and increase their profits. The project is expected to lead to doubling of the current average yields per crop for the Union’s members, which will improve producers’ standard of living and raise the interest towards the fruit-growing industry in the country.
