Art has the power to change lives. In 2009, eight Varna painters set out to prove this by choosing 30 children, most from troubled families, and providing lessons in art.

This is how Dedal Art School was born - a place where children develop a love of art and music, but also receive support and understanding.

Their history is proof of how enthusiasm just needs a little support to achieve great things - since the opening of the school in 2009, more than 500 children and youths, about 180 a year, aged nine to 22, have passed through the school. They attend classes in fine art, sculpture, photography, cinematography, web and graphic design, drama and drums. Many of the first alumni of the school have gone on with their education, at Bulgarian and foreign universities, specialising in the arts, architecture and management.
