America for Bulgaria Foundation and the Sofia Philharmonic are organizing a concert of Thomas Hampson, one of the most acclaimed US baritones. The concert, which was originally planned for December 14, 2017 will be staged on May 16, 2018 due to the soloist’s illness. The concert of the Metropolitan Opera star and partner of Sonya Yoncheva and Anna Netrebko will be under the baton of Bulgaria-born conductor Pavel Baleff, who is currently Chief Conductor of the Philharmonic of Baden-Baden, one of the most recognized orchestras in Germany. The concert program includes arias and overtures from operas and operettas by Mozart, Gounod, Massenet, Verdi, Lehár, Porter and Bernstein. This concert is the second major partnership between America for Bulgaria Foundation and the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, after the successful concert of Sonya Yoncheva in the Spring of 2015.
