Non-profit Association "School Council at the High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences “Acad. Nikola Obreshkov”"
BGN 19,180
Three Bulgarian high schools were invited to participate in the prestigious Harvard-MIT Mathematics Tournament (HMMT) in 2018: the Dr. Petar Beron Mathematics High School in Varna, the Acad. Nikola Obreshkov High School of Science and Mathematics in Burgas, and the Sofia High School of Mathematics. According to the rules of the competition, each team consists of 6-8 students. To ensure better performance, two of the Bulgarian schools joined forces in a common team, comprising three students from Burgas and four students from Varna, with an additional student from the First Private Math School in Sofia, and their team leaders. The America for Bulgaria Foundation supported the team’s participation in the competition. HMMT is a highly competitive annual mathematics tournament for high school students run jointly by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University. A small number of select international teams are invited to participate, which makes the Bulgarian teams’ selection particularly notable. The tournament gathers 800 students with excellent track records from international math competitions.
