This grant is to support the three-day summer edition of Kapana Fest. On June 1–3 this year, the eponymous neighborhood of Plovdiv will come alive with the sounds of hip-hop and alternative jazz as well as with the buzz of visitors from around the world. The summer 2018 edition of Kapana will feature more than 120 stands selling handiwork and street art, literary readings, a special children’s program on June 1, film screenings, sports, and fun games as well as performances by musicians from the USA, Romania, Greece, the Netherlands, and Bulgaria. Thanks to ABF’s support, audiences in Kapana will enjoy performances by James & Black, an independent soul and hip-hop duo formed in Austin, Texas, and Gavlyn, a Latin American hip-hop artist.
