16+ Day Care Center to Provide Alternatives to Street Life
Alliance for Children and Youth

USD 150,000

This is a three year grant to support a day center for street children and youth aged 16 to 25 in or around Sofia. The center also indirectly supports program participants’ children (aged 0-5) and other family dependants. Their ultimate goal is to empower street children and youth to reintegrate into mainstream society. To do so, the center conducts an outreach and street work program, a drug prevention program, social and psychological consultations, vocational courses and career programs, and a computer literacy program. These programs aim to help young people develop the skills necessary to live independently and to avoid harmful “coping strategies” such as drugs, prostitution, petty crime, etc. The center also provides legal assistance and advocacy.

We are performing technical maintenance on our website and the project database will not be accessible until 4 pm today.
