This grant will support the sixth edition of the Allegra International Summer Academy and Festival in Ruse, on July 9–23, 2020. Allegra is an intensive ten-day program of classes taught by renowned professors from music conservatories around the world and culminating in a final recital featuring all students. Ruse Municipality named the festival the second most creative project in town, but the festival’s value is cultural as well as economic: guests to the city are in the hundreds for the duration of the festival, and they stay at local hotels, go to local restaurants, and visit local tourist attractions. Allegra International Academy and Festival is postponed for 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
