The main objective of the project is the technological upgrade of Bulgarian academic libraries and the establishment of a National Academic Library Information System (NALIS). This will include the digitization of the card catalogs of the university libraries, the establishment of a unified on-line national academic library catalog, and access to the resources of academic libraries first in the country and later worldwide. At a later stage, the project might support the digitization of some of the most valuable university collections.
