In Bulgaria, 500,000 people live with diabetes. Approximately 10% are patients with Type 1 diabetes. This is an alarming statistic that requires timely measures for prevention, early detection, and treatment. The Culture without Borders Association through its educational program, draws public attention to diabetes as a socially significant disease, informs the public about prevention and timely screening, and helps people to achieve the optimal control of blood sugar. The ultimate goal is for all children and young people with diabetes to live a life with normal glucose levels, free of acute and chronic complications of the disease.
