Kelvin: Technology validation of Thermography AI for mass screening of PAD

Peripheral artery disease affects >200 million people worldwide. Applying the developed countries’ prevalence, the numbers for Bulgaria would be close to 400,000 people with PAD, respectively >40,000 of them would develop the potentially fatal Critical Limb Ischemia. Kelvin is a mobile thermal imaging camera that captures the body thermodynamics and generates a series of thermograms, which are then thermally segmented, and analyzed temporarily using an ensemble of AI image recognition algorithms trained to detect anomalies of the vascular system as PAD and CLI. The Kelvin project has the potential to contribute to a significant Bulgarian medical innovation with an important effect on cardiovascular disease’s early detection and treatment of millions of patients in Bulgaria and globally.
