The project seeks to stimulate and speed up the long postponed changes in the sector through improving the professionalism of Bulgarian librarians and implementation of initiatives targeting the advancement of the libraries. The centerpiece of the program is the institutional strengthening of BLIA so that it can substantially broaden and expand its activities, and thus to lead the transformation and sustainable development of the libraries in the 21st century. The other three priority areas that BLIA will focus on are: developing a system for education and training of librarians; implementing a publishing program of the Association; building a center for expert and consulting services libraries; and implementation of projects that support the advancement of the sector.
