This grant supports an initiative for thirty economically disadvantaged Roma and Bulgarian 7th-8th graders in Karlovo. To counter both high drop-out rates and a lack of marketable skills, the NGO is providing an after-school activity that busses participants to a Tourism High School in nearby Sopot. They have several goals- to foster friendship and tolerance among program participants, to encourage participants to enroll in high school upon graduating from the 8th grade, and to provide them with a certificate that is helpful for securing employment. Participants can choose between a catering course or a bartending/waiter course.
