Once on each 5 years, in August, Koprivshtitsa hosts a large international folklore event – The National Folklore Assembly. Over 15,000 participants from all over Bulgaria and the world as well as over 200,000 tourists attend this event. Singers, dancers, musicians, craftsmen and ritual performers show authentic Bulgarian folklore. In addition to local participants, groups from Norway, Japan, The Netherlands, UK, USA, Sweden and the Balkan countries perform at the assembly. The Koprivshtitsa Assembly places Bulgaria on the world art and culture map.
