“FIRST CHANCE TO SEE: Bulgarian Flying Treasure”
Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB)
BGN 69,050
The project envisions bringing a new focus of “well-known” tourist destinations by promoting birds as ambassadors of nature to attract foreign and local tourists by developing a new tourist product for the chosen destinations – the Belogradchik Rocks, Orpheus Tomb, Burgas lakes and the Via Pontica Migration Route, Coastal Dobrudzha and the Thracian tombs in the Valley of the Thracian Kings. The project includes a number of activities: a travelling photo exhibition; developing short video stories of emblematic birds that can be seen in the chosen regions; further developing the Bulgarian bird portal (www.birdsinbulgaria.org) with recognition keys and inclusion of an interactive bird recognition game; creating a smart phone application – mobile bird guide and publishing a pocket guide for laymen. Another goal of the project is to encourage activities related to experiencing Nature in city parks. Those envisage organizing a school contest for choosing the bird symbol of Sofia and eventual installation of a plastic interpretation of the chosen bird in the South Park as well as tracing a bird-watching track with information boards showing the species which can be observed in the South Park. The ambitious objective of the project is to include birds and bird-watching as an accent in the national policy when popularizing Bulgaria as tourist destination by promoting the country as a key European Nature tourism destination and bird-watching hub, and at the same time enhancing awareness on birds and protection of bird species’ habitats.
We are performing technical maintenance on our website and the project database will not be accessible until 4 pm today.
