TERNI ZOR / YOUNG POWER. Complex Support to Roma Youth for Equal Access to Higher Education
“Student Society for Development of Interethnic Dialogue” Foundation
BGN 155,600
SSDID will be working together with Studii Romani to provide complex support to 40 Roma students that are applying for the university and to 6 Ph.D. and post-doctoral applicants in fields that will contribute to a better understanding of the Roma in Bulgaria. SSDID will provide financial support to selected students to help support preparatory courses for high school comprehensive exams and for entrance exams at universities. They also provide motivational work with parents and work closely with students to identify appropriate universities and academic degrees and to facilitate the test-taking process and their admission. 30 successful students will receive a stipend that covers application and matriculation fees as well as first semester tuition fees. Ph.D. students will also receive mentoring and support to take exams and prepare their dissertation topic. The program aims to increase the number of Roma students that complete a university degree, as it is estimated that less than 1% of Bulgaria’s Roma have succeeded in doing so.
We are performing technical maintenance on our website and the project database will not be accessible until 4 pm today.
