The growth of ARCS as well-established institution with wide network of contacts with Bulgarian and American universities and archeologists led to a significant increase in quality and quantity of applicants to its Annual Fellowship Academic Program. In 2011 ARCS will offer the very best of the applicants modest fellowships to cover the costs of their participation in the program; a total of nine fellowships will be awarded, of which five one-semester and four two-semester fellowships. By supporting high level research into important aspects of Bulgarian history and encouraging contact and collaboration between Bulgarian scholars and graduate students in North American universities, the ARCS’ Fellowship Academic Program promotes the development of continued strong scholarly relationships between Bulgaria and the USA.
