The grant will cover expenses of two Bulgarian scholars to travel to Philadelphia and present their papers at the Annual Meeting of the Archaeological Institute of America in January 2012. A large segment of the archaeological community in North America will be exposed to some of the important research that is currently taking place in Bulgaria and the excellent young Bulgarian archaeologists who are conducting it. Margarit Damyanov with the Institute of Archaeology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Bogdan Atanassov with the New Bulgarian University will have an opportunity to meet archaeologists who are potentially interested in initiating research programs in Bulgaria. Both scholars will also have an opportunity to meet the East Europe and Eurasia Interest Group of the Archaeological Institute of America.
