More than 170,000 couples in Bulgaria have reproductive problems, of which only 10% receive support from the government “Assisted Reproduction” fund. In addressing the population crisis and the related demographic and social problems, two years ago ABF supported the Iskam Bebe Foundation with a pilot grant of BGN 100,000. The project was able to support 28 in-vitro procedures. As a result, 8 babies were born and 5 women are pregnant and expecting by the end of 2012, which makes for a success rate of over 40%. Based on the success of the first grant, ABF is supporting Iskam Bebe again with BGN 125,000 to cover 25 in-vitro procedures over the next two years.
