Across all program areas, the America for Bulgaria Foundation is supporting efforts to build and strengthen a vibrant market economy. To achieve this goal, Bulgaria’s disadvantaged poor must be included. There are extremely high levels of unemployment and very low levels of education among the disadvantaged. Roma comprise an estimated 10% of the population and make up a significant portion of the poor. To achieve better outcomes for Bulgaria’s most impoverished citizens, ABF is investing significant resources in the creation of a new organization, named the Trust for Social Achievement (TSA). The TSA will seek to level the playing field by funding projects in three main areas: • Early education and drop-out prevention for at-risk pupils, specifically children from Roma and economically marginalized communities. • Access to jobs for at-risk groups, specifically Roma and youth from marginalized and impoverished communities. • Capacity building for local organizations, with an emphasis on financial accountability and data-based performance evaluation. More information regarding the TSA, program areas, and application procedures can be found on their webpage: www.socialachievement.org.
We are performing technical maintenance on our website and the project database will not be accessible until 4 pm today.
