Cochran Fellowship Program in Bulgaria
U.S. Department of Agriculture/Foreign Agricultural Service

USD 263,000

For a sixth year in a row, the America for Bulgaria Foundation is providing funding for the Cochran Fellowship Program. The Program offers short-term training opportunities for Bulgarian agricultural professionals in the United States, most ranging from two to three weeks, depending on the objectives of the program. During training programs participants meet with professionals in their fields, participate in field observations and industry visits, experience on-the-job training, attend university courses and seminars, attend agricultural expos or conventions, or participate in a combination of the above. Each training program reflects a philosophy that training should provide participants with sound technical knowledge and the opportunity to test and practice new skills and knowledge in practical situations. Therefore, most programs offer a mixture of technical instruction, practical field observations, and "hands-on" experience. The 2014 program topics are advanced production technologies, best management practices, sustainable production methods and policies in the following sectors: horticulture (fruit sector), horticulture (vegetable sector), and tree nuts. Up to 21 participants, selected in an open and highly competitive selection process, will be able to travel to the US and experience this unique high-level training.

We are performing technical maintenance on our website and the project database will not be accessible until 4 pm today.
