Borlaug International Agricultural Science and Technology Fellowship Program in Bulgaria
U.S. Department of Agriculture/Foreign Agricultural Service

USD 56,500

For a sixth year in a row, the America for Bulgaria Foundation is providing financial support for the Norman Borlaug Fellowship Program. The Program promotes food security and economic growth by increasing scientific knowledge, advancing the transfer of new technologies and encouraging collaborative research to improve agricultural productivity in Bulgaria. It provides Fellowships to Bulgarian researchers from eight to twelve weeks depending on the research topic. Each Fellow works one-on-one with a U.S. mentor who coordinates the Fellow’s training and visits the Fellow’s home institution after completion of the training. The U.S. host institutions and mentors for each Fellow are selected by USDA, and the funding for 2014 will allow three leading Bulgarian researchers, selected in an open and competitive selection process, to develop and expand their research skills, working in a modern and high-tech environment.
