Business and education in the forestry sector – intersection point

The main purpose of this project is to bring together vocational education and private forestry businesses and nurture mutual cooperation to tackle the needs of both. On the one hand, it is intended to address the lack of interest in students towards professional development in the forestry sector, and on the other – provide opportunities for the teaching institutions to get acquainted with the needs of the market and adjust their curriculum accordingly, thus helping the business deal with the shortage of skilled and motivated mid-level workers. The project envisages: a promotional campaign to show the possibilities for professional realization in the forestry sector; series of open-days events at private companies for teachers; students’ visits to private businesses; seminars for the industry on how to address the lack of qualified labor; and organizing a specialized job fair.
