What Can 23 Bulgarian Schools Do With 2.6 Million Lev?

“Baba Tonka” Specialized High School of Mathematics in Rousse is among the 23 “Schools of the Future,” in the highly-competitive selection process of America for Bulgaria Foundation, organized to create a contemporary learning environment at Bulgarian schools. The school’s project, “Ideas Find a Way” for a biochemical lab center worth BGN 60,000 was successfully implemented.

The high school dates back almost 145 years. It is a specialized school with a focus on mathematics, computer science and biology and intensive English language courses since 1970. Its earlier history was as an all-girls school. The Biochemical Lab Center, created with the support of America for Bulgaria Foundation, is a multifunctional space for practical training in chemistry and biology using digital technologies to exchange data from scientific experiments with other classes and schools throughout the country.

There are educational communities whose ideas and efforts are proof of the fact that location does not matter when you want to create a modern, good-quality school. “Schools of the Future” is a program to support such visionary teams. In academic year 2016-2017, America for Bulgaria Foundation invested BGN 2.6 million to modernize the school environment in 23 Bulgarian schools.
