IKEA Makes More Than Great Furniture… See What They Do For Kids!

Playing games is not just a basic need for children. It is  a fundamental right of children according to the UN Convention. Unfortunately, many children around the world have no opportunity to play, learn, or simply be children.

IKEA believes that games have the amazing capability to make our daily lives better and designed an assortment of games to stimulate the motor and social skills of the young, their logical thinking and imagination. Children are the most important people in the world and that is why IKEA cooperates with UNICEF long-term, both globally and in Bulgaria. IKEA supports projects that aim to create a safe and playful environment for even the most vulnerable children.

Every year around Christmas, IKEA allocates a portion of its revenues for such projects. Since 2003, their global campaigns have raised nearly € 119 million in support of the young. IKEA Bulgaria has donated more than BGN 140 000 to UNICEF projects in Bulgaria. Their resources and expertise provide child centers in eight Bulgarian cities with furniture and comfort.

IKEA also participates in UNICEF’s “Together since Kindergarten” project, which aims to provide an inclusive and non-discriminatory environment that supports all children to learn and play from the earliest age. IKEA equipped ten specialized cabinets in pilot kindergartens with the necessary furniture and stimulating resources. They continue to work for equal opportunities for children.
