Little Heroes – the philanthropic initiative of the America for Bulgaria Foundation (ABF) and partners transformed the children’s wards in Pirogov Emergency Hospital into a fairytale and welcoming environment for children and their families.
However, Little Heroes was more than a refurbishment project as the initiative aspired to revive the tradition of giving in Bulgaria by mobilizing corporate partners, state and government officials and the public. Partners in the “Little Heroes” initiative included Bulgarian and multinational companies such as IKEA, UniCredit Bulbank, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, City Media Group, Tribal Worldwide Sofia, LHSA+DP, New York, Walltopia, Happy Bar and Grill, Henkel, AstraZeneca, etc.
Little Heroes also aimed to serve as an example of successful, transparent collaboration between government, the private sector and non-profit partners for the benefit of Bulgaria’s children and families.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony of the renewed children’s clinics was held on October 23, 2017 and revealed 25,000 square foot, 65-room, three-floor transformation, along with a new playground.
