The Masters of Photography series this year will include two exhibitions and two lectures. The first exhibit will feature work by Mary Ellen Mark, one of the most influential photographers of all times, who is known for her photojournalism, documentary and advertising photography, and portraiture. Her exhibition in Sofia will present more than 40 black-and-white photographs depicting a variety of subjects and taken over the course of her long career. The exhibition will also include a lecture on March 28 by Howard Greenberg, of the eponymous gallery in New York. The second exhibition will present work by some of the best cinematographers in Bulgaria. Due to strong interest, the scope of the project expanded, and in 2018 it will showcase not only photographers but also contemporary artists. So far, the Masters of Photography series has showcased ten artists in eight exhibitions, attended by more than 31,200 people.
