With the support of ABF, Vagabond, a monthly English-language magazine in Bulgaria, produces a series of articles under the rubrics “High Beam” aimed at promoting Bulgaria’s heritage tourism to the English-speaking world. The publication typically focuses on Bulgaria’s natural, cultural, historical, archaeological and ethnic diversity, and provides information about places, cultural entities, events, personalities and facts of life that are sometimes difficult to understand for newcomers to the country. The current grant will aid the continuation of this endeavour through 2012 – 2013 by expanding the magazine through the launch of several new categories to further stimulate interest in Bulgaria’s past and present. It will also shed more light on the historical and current relations between Bulgaria and the United States. The project is anticipated to foster awareness, understanding and appreciation for Bulgaria’s history and culture, thus encouraging cultural tourism and its development as a crucial element of the Bulgarian economy.
