For the first time this year, Dobrin Petkov National School of Music and Dance will host a Plovdiv International Chamber Music Competition. The format is suggested and strongly supported by Elmira Darvarova, a world violinist and alumni of the school who is the first and only female concertmaster of Metropolitan Opera in NY. The contest will take place in October 1-5, 2014 and is open to all instrumental chamber music groups, ranging from duo to sextet. Jury consists of 6 members: Elmira Darvarova, violin (USA), prof. Anatoly Krastev, cello (Bulgaria), prof. Bojidar Noev, piano (Austria), prof. Angel Stankov, violin (Bulgaria),dr. Vanguel Tangarov, clarinet (USA), dr. Yassen Teodossiev, horn (Bulgaria). ABF supports established and well-known Bulgarian professionals with successful careers abroad who are willing to come back home and apply their experience to improving the cultural climate in Bulgaria and initiating good practices.
