Did you know that over EUR 60 billion is donated to causes such as human rights protection, health and education, animal care and environmental protection each year in Europe?
On October 1, Bulgaria celebrated the European Day of Foundations and Donors for the second consecutive year. It is one of the 24 European countries where donors contribute to the development of society through dozens of events and initiatives.
The members of the Bulgarian Donors’ Forum and other partner organizations spoke about the causes and the change brought about by donors in Bulgaria in an initiative with the motto “I am Hope” from October 1 to 8.
The schedule of the European Day of Foundations and Donors includes a wide range of initiatives and campaigns, including support for talented children and students, elderly people, families with reproductive problems, cancer patients, and disenfranchised children and adults.
The lighted matchstick remains the symbol of the October 1 campaign. The symbol was complemented by the message “I Am Hope” this year because it is hope that unites the people working for charity organizations – the hope that they help breathe life into the causes, which are important to society and that they can create a network of support, lead others to embrace new ideas, and encourage change.
People shared stories of support and change that became reality thanks to donors with hashtag #zapali throughout the first week of October. For video from the week CLICK HERE,
