More than 400 organizations from 75 Bulgarian cities, towns and villages, united by their vision of Bulgaria‘s prosperity – this is the community of America for Bulgaria Foundation — our community. Made up of people from NGOs, teachers and principals, entrepreneurs, musicians, artists, judges, prosecutors, journalists and many others. Our community is a colorful and inspiring picture of the Bulgaria where we all want to live – modern, prosperous and transparent.
For the first time ever on January 17, 2017 we brought this community together in order to celebrate the success of the people who work hard every day for the development of Bulgaria’s potential. And with our support, they achieve remarkable results and we will actively share the stories of their success.
Stories of the 160 teachers and principals from all over Bulgaria who daily strive to ensure our children have access to contemporary and competitive education. Or the stories of more than 200 entrepreneurs trained in our programs who have founded more than 40 companies in the last five years. Or the stories of dozens of experts who modernize Bulgarian agriculture; or the stories of the young people from the eight national high-school Olympic teams in science who in 2016 won 65 medals for our country; or the stories of the countless volunteers who support hundreds of causes and projects that make Bulgaria a better place to live.
We’ll tell these stories and many more like them of the people ABF has invested over $186 million since the start of America for Bulgaria Foundation in 2009. We have supported 710 initiatives and over 400 organizations. And since we are optimists, we believe with all our hearts that Bulgaria’s potential for development lies within itself. For this reason, we intend to continue our annual investments of about $20 million in support of Bulgarian potential. This investment comes from the Foundation’s capital of $400 million – funds that were generated in Bulgaria by the successful work of the Bulgarian American Enterprise Fund.
We will also continue to celebrate the successes of our ever-growing community of non-governmental organizations, national and regional institutions, public and private media, social and private companies, schools and universities, libraries, community centers, theaters, operas and ballets, symphony orchestras, museums and galleries.
Together we can make our biggest dream come true – to reach the full potential of our country as a successful and modern European nation.
