How Do You Really Build The Power Of Community?

ABF hopes to build the power of community by uniting non-governmental organizations, active citizens, business representatives, and local institutions to identify opportunities to improve the quality of life. This is the challenge America for Bulgaria Foundation set forth in Gabrovo, Razgrad and Vratsa.

Current ABF partners and grantees spoke at a community gathering in Gabrovo, including Agora Platform and the Devetaki Plateau Association, explaining how good practices can transform a region. The Bulgarian Donors Forum and Time Heroes spoke of volunteerism and the initiatives that it inspires and brings together. Gabrovo mayor Tania Hristova joined in supporting the initiative.

Razgrad District Governor Gyunay Hyusmen thanked America for Bulgaria Foundation for its work and encouraged a discussion on the sustainability of the development of the town and the region. Mayor Dr. Valentin Vassilev also attended the meeting. The focus was not solely on successful projects throughout the country, but also on two extremely successful initiatives in the Razgrad district: the Muzeiko Children’s Science Center exhibition and the building of the “Adventure Time” multi-purpose center at the Vassil Levski Primary School in Razgrad through the Schools of the Future Program.

Vratsa Mayor Kalin Kamenov told the meeting, held on June 14: “The more people work, create and see the meaning in volunteerism and in donating, the quicker Bulgaria will become more prosperous.”

The next workshops will be held in September.
